So today was our last day in So Cal with the family. We are driving back to Silver Springs Nevada to spend some more time with Derek's Mom. The idea was to stop and spend the night half way so Derek could fish. Found out most areas were closed so we just drove right thru. There was a storm coming but we missed it all. After we left Kristin's house Derek took me into Riverside and showed me all the places he used to hang out. It was fun to see the places he talks about. We walked around the Mission Inn and the area around it. It is beautiful.
Derek and Kristin get the air out of our bed. I guess it really does mean we are leaving.

Diego wanted to help Uncle too

Diego wanted to try on all of Derek's fishing gear. He gets his first try at fly fishing

Derek gives him a quick lesson. The pole was just to big for him to use. But really cute

We stopped by to see the great grandfather tree of all navel trees in the US. Very cool

The tree still looks great and has navel oranges on it

The Mission Inn was cool. Would love to stay there someday

Derek poses with the Inland Empire weekly. He was glad to be back

Got a yummy cupcake there then off we go
We stopped at a living ghost town on our way. Derek poses by the logo for his Clamper chapter. His chapter helped keep the town history alive.

The long road to Nevada
We had to stop and check out Convict Lake. So pretty in the snow. No fishing since it was frozen over. We are going to come back in the summer to camp.

Just before we got to the Nevada state line we got to meet a super cool California Highway Patrol. Derek it seemed was drifting a bit around corners and went a bit fast down a hill. Those are some pretty lights. He was very nice and just told us to slow down and not drift.
