I had forgotten (since Emma is 10) what it is like with a puppy in the house. She is Derek's puppy but guess who takes her out all night. :) Her favorite spot is on his chest. Yes he did name her........ after a salmon. Emma is not her biggest fan right now but I think she is warming up to her.

Our New Puppy
So we broke down and got a new puppy. She is tiny. Her name is Coho and she is a Cairn and West Highland terrier mix. At 7 weeks it is easy to miss her.

Our Last Day on the Road!!!!!
We woke up to our last day on the road to a gorgeous day. Since it was a bed and breakfast we stayed in we headed to the main building down the street for breakfast. After a yummy meal we went for a walk on the beach. Haystack rock was as pretty in person as in my Mom's pictures. After wading in the tide pools and playing in the water we walked all around town. This time of year is a great time to visit Cannon Beach. Not crowded and more relaxed.
Sadly we had to leave town and head home. Crossed into Washington in Astoria and had dinner in Raymond. Then home sweet home. It was nice to sleep in our own bed. Then off to Yakima the next morning to get Emma.
This is the main building of the B&B's we stayed in. They manage 3 other buildings. Great people and good prices.

The restaurant for breakfast was in the building. Great food.

I had classic eggs benedict on a baguette and Derek had salmon eggs benedict. Both were so good.

This was our B and B. Very cute and comfy.

Derek has a nice chat with a neighbor

Here are a few pics of the room.

Haystack Rock

Derek and I check out the tide pools

Here are the 3 views of Derek at once.

Of course we need to have a picture of the two of us.

Well we knew the time would come........ yep we are back in Washington

We finally stopped in Raymond for a late lunch

It was a welcoming site to see our cute little house

Had to take a picture of the Garmin when we got home. I think we would add about 375 miles to the total for when we drove without it. We drove a lot more miles than we thought we would. Time to take the little car in for a check up and I am thinking new tires. She did a great job.

So we have come to the end of the trip. This was going to be the end of the blog but I think I will continue it.
It will no longer be just for our road trip we took but the rest of the the roads ahead. The road of our lives is laid out ahead and waiting for us to explore it. Deep huh.
So please continue to check back and see what new adventures Derek and I have.

Oregon Coast
Today is the last day before we head home. The sun was out and the ocean was so pretty. We are heading to Cannon Beach to spend the last night.

We stopped at the Sea Lion Caves.

A nice lady took our picture

The small was super yucky but it was cool to see so many sea lions. Lots of babies too. They are very loud

We hiked down to some tide pools. The waves crashed high up on the rocks. Tons of fun

For Katie.....Derek reads up on the Oregon Trail

It was late so we could not tour but had to stop for the photo op. I love cheese. This is definitely a trip to come back for

Found a great place to eat. It was called Mo's in Cannon Beach. We checked into a cute B&B. We enjoyed our last dinner of the trip. Who would not love, crab, oysters on the half shell, fish and chips and steamed clams

Derek loved the crab

This is the great wait staff. So friendly

Back to the room for a good nights sleep. Tomorrow we head home.

Leaving California
Today we packed up the camp and left Eureka. We are moving up the coast getting closer and closer to home. We are glad to be going home but it is kind of sad. We have had so much fun on this trip that I do not want it to end. We are camping at a KOA campground in Coos Bay Oregon tonight. The drive should be pretty.
I unload the stuff from the tent so we can pack up and go

On the beach. Still foggy.

We stopped to watch about 20 elk relax on the field by the road.

Yep we stopped at the Trees of Mystery. Well it had a HUGE Paul Bunyan and Babe

Derek made a new friend. There are carvings of Big Foot every mile.

We found the sun. Decided to stop for a nice lunch. Yummy cheese, crusty bread, bagels and smoked salmon

Derek got a new hat!

There were tons of seals and sea lions at the next town.

Yep we made it into Oregon. I will miss California

At dark we pull into the camp in Coos Bay. Super nice and helpful people

Our dinner. Hot dogs, macaroni salad, marshmallows and chocolate

Roasted marshmallows are good

It was soooooooo cold. We got all layered and bundled up

Tomorrow we head closer to home. We will probably stay our last night on the trip in either Cannon Beach or Astoria.

So we had to leave our adorable B&B. I highly recommend the Sea Gull B&B in Mendocino CA. I took some amazing pics of there and the ocean before the fog rolled in. Also of this amazing lighthouse. I went to check them out on our way to Fort Bragg and somehow they had disappeared. I was sooooo upset. It was to far for us to go back and take some of them again.
WE drove up the coast and played tourist some more. We ended up in Eureka at a KOA campground. They are great. We will be staying in them all the way up the coast.
Derek took me to the place in Ft Bragg. We were not hungry but it looked yummy.

Derek enjoys one of our homemade sandwiches (this one with burnt cheese) at the beach

I enjoy the beach. I just wish the fog would have gone away

We found SUN

This was a cool spot just of the road in the Avenue of the Giants road

Very freaky

Yes, of course, we had to drive through a tree

Very big trees. So pretty and makes you feel so small

Finally at our campground

Derek sets up camp

Tomorrow we head up the coast to Coos Bay. Hopefully the fog along the coast will let up a bit.
